Steak Chili

Everyone is tired of the same old ground beef chili. You are now a man and need real man’s chili. Taste this beautiful creation and you will never go back to the boring 2 Alarm (false alarm?) Chili kit at the grocery store.

False Alarm Chili2 Alrm Chili

XubbxCr2 pounds sirloin steak (cut into 1 inch squares)
2 chopped onions
2 red bell peppers, seeded and chopped
3-5 jalapenos (sliced or diced)
1 26 oz. can crushed tomatoes
1 16 oz. can diced tomatoes
3-4 cloves garlic
chili powder
2 cups consomme or beef broth
2 cans kidney beans (optional)
2-3 tablespoons cumin
2-3 tablespoons oregano
1 bottle of beer (better with a full flavor beer – IPA)
salt and pepper to taste

Add your steak to your pot and brown it on the stove top, stirring frequently.  You can drain the meat, but its not necessary.

Add in all the ingredients while stirring.

Reduce to low and allow to cook for 5+ hours, while stirring occasionally.

After a few hours, taste the concoction. Feel free to add additional chili powder, cumin, and oregano to your heart’s desire.

Serve with sour cream, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, fresh or pickled jalapenos, and a starch. The starch could be a baked potato, bread, hot sauce, crackers, Fritos, or corn bread.

Add beef bouillon instead of broth with cups of water. If it is not thick enough you can add some cornstarch, flour, masa harina, or cornmeal.
