NASCAR’s Can-Am 500 Preview

FirstAndMonday’s Preview of NASCAR’s Phoenix Playoff

by Holden Asworth

We’re down to two races left on the schedule – today’s final race of the Round of Eight, and Next Sunday’s Championship race at Homestead-Miami. Thus far, we haven’t seen too many surprises (other than the Elliott/Hamlin kerfuffle at Martinsville). Kyle Busch won at Martinsville, Kevin Harvick won at Texas, and Martin Truex Jr. is locked in on points (remember how he kicked everyone’s asses during the other 34 races of the season?). Who will grab the final spot and advance with a chance to win the Cup?

Kevin Harvick – he’s already locked in for the final round, but he owns this place – he’s won this fall race alone 4 times.

Ryan Blaney – he’s still eligible for the final round, and he’s starting on the pole. He’ll have to fight off seasoned vets like Harvick and Johnson, who both know this place like the back of their hands.

Denny Hamlin – will justice be served from his wrecking of Chase Elliott at Martinsville?

Chase Elliott – knowing he’ll have to win to move on, will justice be served from being wrecked at Martinsville?

Jimmie Johnson – He’s won here 3 times in the fall and needs a strong showing to advance.

When to Watch:

Sunday at 2:30pm EST on NBC and SiriusXM NASCAR Channel 90

Why to Watch:

The potential for ownage and carnage is always nice.
